BIMI Inspector: get your logo into the inbox
BIMI is the standard that puts your logo next to your emails in Gmail, Apple Mail and others. It needs a correctly formatted logo, a DNS record, and for most inboxes a paid certificate. BIMI Inspector hosts the logo and the record for you, so your side is one CNAME.
- Where to find it
- Brand → BIMI Inspector
- Time needed
- 10 minutes, plus DNS propagation
- You will need
- Your logo as an SVG (Tiny PS profile, under 2MB). Optionally a VMC certificate in PEM format (under 512KB).
Before you start
BIMI only works once your DMARC policy is at quarantine or reject. If you're still at p=none, work through the Enforcement Guide first. Gmail and some other providers also require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), which you buy from a certificate authority after registering your logo as a trademark; the VMC Tracker keeps that process on track.
Set it up
- Pick the domain
- Upload your logo
SVG only, maximum 2MB. DMARCS cleans the file on upload: any scripts, event handlers or links to external files are removed, because mail providers reject them.
- Upload your VMC, if you have one
PEM format only, maximum 512KB. Skip this step if you don't have a certificate yet; the logo can be published without it and will show in providers that don't require one.
- Publish Record
The button is disabled until a logo is uploaded. Click it and DMARCS gives you one CNAME record to add at your DNS provider: the
default._bimihost pointing at a DMARCS-hosted target. DMARCS takes care of the rest.
What the status badge means
- Live & Protecting. Your CNAME resolves and the live record is correct.
- Pending CNAME. Published on DMARCS's side; waiting for your CNAME to become visible in DNS.
- Could not verify. The DNS check itself failed (a network or resolver problem). This does not mean BIMI is broken; DMARCS just couldn't check right now.
- Not Detected. Nothing published yet.
The Inbox Preview panel shows roughly how the logo will look next to a sample email, so you can catch a cropped or off-centre logo before the world does.
